I have bought several disks that were Cosmi which are generally available at OfficeMax or Office Depot. The Cosmi programs I like are the PDF converter and the web page submitter. The web page submitter is better than the quality of most submitting software and for a fraction of the cost. The PDF converter is excellent if you can make it work. If you use a PDF converter throw the disk away after you use it. Trust me it is not even good for a reinstall. If you don't it will bite you hard because then you will never get it off your hard drive and it will take an uninstaller program to remove it that or reformat. Other programs such as Cosmi's Password Manager don't even waste your time or money with. I tried Window Cleaner and it seems like a good program for only $5. Cosmi software seems to be the perfect solution for small harddrives and a small amount of RAM which is great for Windows 2000 and older. To be honest with you I am in love with the web site submitter. That is the best program by far Cosmi ever came out with.
They are generally two for $10 but don't let the price fool you. In addition to this when you buy a disk they give you one month free service with NetZero on that computer it is installed on. That is a real plus if you are on a severely tight budget. The Cosmi programs are very good software but one must take caution because some Cosmi programs are absolutely worthless. The PDF converter is giving me grief only because it is a use once throw the disk away. When my computer crashed I reused the disk, and it failed, however the Cosmi web submitter worked just fine. I have bought another Cosmi PDF converter and I will try again soon. It failed too. See when I originally tried to reinstall it it would not entirely delete so the new disk apparently got fooled into thinking it was already on the computer.
Now the Cosmi web submitter has a code you enter and as long as you do it on the same machine there should be no problem. As far as customer support don't count on it! You ain't gettin very far with the Cosmi support. WORD TO THE WISE DON'T JERK COSMI AROUND THEY ARE A ONE USE PER COMPUTER. SOMETIMES YOU CAN REUSE A DISK AFTER A OPERATING REINSTALL BUT I DON'T KNOW WHICH DISKS THOSE ARE. WHEN IN DOUBT USE THE DISK ONCE AND DISCARD IT.
In the case of a total meltdown it is not like losing Word 7 where you are out hundreds. If your hard drive is scrubbed clean you should consider a new Cosmi disk. I recently lost Word and Power Point and it is hard to get along without them. I save all my disks which is very smart but a pastor stole the Word 7 disk from me.
If you do go with Cosmi know you will get a lot of software for a few bucks. Just know this though there are reasons for things being cheap. A lot ot times the quality just isn't there yet sometimes it is. This is the case for both PDFand web page submitters. The Cosmi web page submitter by far outperformed 101 Traffic's version which cost far more than I can ever painfully mention. 101's Traffic web submitter failed altogether.
In conclusion Cosmi works great it does however have limitations. My web submitter even has an update so they can keep it updated. One problem I noticed is that Cosmi programs may require a hard drive reformat to remove since I have found it impossible to remove all traces which is required to make an installation.,. That or get a good uninstaller like the one listed here: Perfect Uninstaller this program should remove any problems that Cosmi may have created...
